Introduction: Singapore Polytechnic was set up on 27 October 1954, making it the very first polytechnic to be established in Singapore. Their graduates have contributed significantly to Singapore’s economic and industrial growth and many are now well-known entrepreneurs. Others hold positions of responsibility and leadership in industry, business and in public organisations.

Singapore Polytechnic may be the oldest Polytechnic but the pioneering spirit is kept very much alive. Look around our campus. They are constantly refurbishing the buildings and facilities to ensure that they are up to date and well equipped for training students in the new industries and emerging technologies.

SP is committed to continually improve its integrated Quality & Environmental Management System (QEMS). They committed to nurture our students to be work ready, life ready & world ready by providing an enriching and holistic learning experience and to equip adult learners with skills and knowledge to enhance their employability. Also, care for the environment by going green and fostering environmental sustainability.

The new SP Care pulls together a multidisciplinary team across SP, consolidating our various healthcare capabilities within the various academic schools, and technology centres to focus on supporting Active Aging through healthcare technology innovations. These competencies are User Insights, Rehab & Assistive Technology, Medical Devices, Diagnostics, Vision Science, and Food & Health. Many of the projects also rely on collaborations with partners to co-innovate, testbed or adopt.

The Singapore Polytechnic maintains robust, relevant and innovative curricula that meet students and industry stakeholder requirements and expectations: It designs and develops new course offerings, regularly updates the curricula of existing courses and phases out courses that are losing relevance to the Singapore industry.

Responsive and innovative teaching processes that recognise a diversity of learning needs and styles are also put in place at Singapore Polytechnic to meet the changing needs of students.
