18 months – 7 years old
Depending on their actual age, children of this age group should either be enrolled into pre-school or kindergarten. In Singapore, there are various childcare options available for kids of below 4 years old. Those aged from 4 to 6 or 7 years old can choose to join either government funded or private kindergartens.
The early childhood years are critical in terms of education as they often serve to build up the child’s basic learning and social skills, as well as his self-confidence. We can assist to place a child in one of the reputed pre-school centres or kindergartens, as well as immigration arrangements for the accompanying mother or grandmother.
7 – 16 years old
Children in this age group are suitable to be enrolled in primary and lower secondary school. For primary school, children will usually enrol at 7 years old for a course that will last 6 years and which prepares them for secondary school. A child usually begins secondary school at 13 years old. Secondary school education may last for 4 or 5 years depending on the academic performance of the child.
All foreign students are required to undergo the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) to qualify for enrolment in a public primary or secondary school. 16 – 22 Years Old
Students of this age group can suitably be enrolled for post-secondary and tertiary education. Singapore offers a range of post-secondary education options for those who have successfully passed through secondary school. Depending on their performance and preference, they may enrol for the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), pre-university classes, or a polytechnic.
Upon completing pre-university or polytechnic, a student may then choose to enrol in one of the six local universities or those overseas. Additionally, those seeking a career in early childhood education can sign up for a course that will train them for this particular specialisation.
22 and above
Students in this age group would typically have graduated from their degree courses, and be ready to consider taking up a Masters course in their chosen discipline. After receiving their Masters degree, a post-graduate student may further opt to pursue a PhD qualification.
